This was my 3rd game in 6th Edition. I decided to make a battle report about it. The other two games I decided to not report due to huge rule arguments in one and the other I gave up on turn 3. This game was a spur of the moment game, the night before I get a text asking if I want to play a game the next day. Now let me begin with the Battle Report. Also, I forgot to bring my camera so no pictures.

My opponent won both table halves and deployment. He decided to give me turn one. I deployed my Ravagers behind a ruin, in my left corner. I made a Double T formation in the middle with my raiders, blocking my Blasterborn Raiders with the Warriors Raiders. I deployed the Hellions in my right corner in some ruins with the two Haemies, granting 3 PT. My Wyches and Reavers went into reserves.
My opponent decided to deploy his Riflemen Dread behind a ruin (exposing side armor.) He then deployed his tact squad in the same ruin with his Assault Squad. My opponent then decided to put all the Termies in in reserves. He kept Belial and his upgraded termies in the LR and outflanked (I found out after the game that he couldn't do that because the LR wasn't a dedicated transport.) He decided to not Seize.
Turn 1:
DE: I moved all my Ravagers to get a clear shot at his Riflemans side AV, pretty much took all 9 shots to remove all of the Dreads HP. The Raiders with Warriors moved up to get in 24" of the Tact Squad and both squads starting shooting into them and the DL on my 4 Raiders leaving 3-4 models left with the LC still alive. Blasterborn couldn't reach anything so they just moved up 12" and behind the Raiders. The Hellions sat in there ruin waiting (they are a reaction squad ready to counter or shoot with there splinter pods, 32 Shots is no joke.)
DA: My opponent tried to Deathwing Assault his TH/SS squad with the Libby near my Ravager, he fell off the table and got delayed. The LC managed to blow up my Raider and killed 5 Warriors, they failed there pinning test but past there LD test.
Score: 2DE - 1DA
Turn 2:
DE: Both my Wyches and Reavers came on from reserves My Wyches just moved up 12+6" due to sails, Reavers moved in only 12" and then turboboosted in the shooting phase into my opponents left corner (my Right.) My Ravagers had nothing to shoot so I moved them enough to get there rear armor protected behind a ruin. The Warriors still in there Raider moved up and rapid fired the Tact squad again and killed of the LC and left 2 guys. The Blasterborn just moved and then flatted-out towards my opponents right corner as well. Hellions still chilling out in their ruin.
DA: Everything from reserves came in. The Libby squad managed to land near my Hellions and scored a direct hit. The Dakka Termies landed near my Blasterborn same as the assault dread. The LR outflanked on my right side but in his deployment zone near my Reavers. His Assault Squad jumped over and decided to try and take out my Raider with the Warriors. He managed to wreck the Raider and assault the Warriors. The Warriors fallback with 3 models left, I did manage to bring the Assault Squad down to 7 models due to overwatch. The Dakka Termies used there CML to blow up myy Raider with the Wyches. Assault Dread managed to wreck one of the Blasterborn Raiders. His Libby failed his psychic power and the CML failed at doing anything to my Hellions squad due to my 3+ cover save. He managed to kill 3 of my Reavers (both of my blaster carriers,) they passed their LD test.
Score: 2DE - 4DA
Turn 3:
DE: My Reavers decided to move and turbo-boost over his Tact Squad with 2 models left, only killed 1, they passed their LD test. My Blasterborn without a ride decided to get into terrain and line up a shot on the LR, with only 3 guys they got lucky and rolled 2 penetrates and both got an explode. My other Blasterborn moved behind the Assault Dread with intent to shoot, but the exposed Termies were a bit angry they lost their ride, I decide to flat-out away from the situation and come back later. My Ravagers moved towards the victorious Assault Squad and laid down fire killing everyone but 1. My Warriors that lost their Raider turn 1 has been sitting in a crater waiting, they got the kill on the Assault Squad. The Wyches got out of cover and charged the Dakka Termies, they survived the overwatch because they were still in terrain and with defensive grenades they had stealth. The Wyches won combat but the Dakka Termies were fearless. The Hellions decided to line up and shoot all of their splinter pods and the 1 haemy was in range to use his LG, I killed 2 TH/SS Termies and wounded the Libby, I didn't assault.
DA: His Assault Dread moved around the drop pod to get into range of my fleeing Blasterborn
Raider, he got an explode and killed 2 Blasterborn, they passed their pinning and LD. He decided to assault my Hellions, he challenged me but I accepted with my Haemy. He won combat with 2 dead Haemies and 1 Hellion, but I was fearless. I did a Hit and Run and got into position to shoot them again. His Belial squad charged my Blasterborn that blew up the LR and wiped them out. The Wyches VS Dakka Termies was a failed event.
Score: 4DE - 7DA
Turn 4:
DE: On this turn I start to wonder if I can even win. I have a lot of VP to give away while my opponent has the abilitiy to take a beating. I set my Ravagers up so I can shoot at the Assault Dread or Drop Pod depending on the results. Out of sheer luck 1 of my Ravagers got all hits and rolled a 4 glances, Greatest Accomplishment in the Game!! I then managed to get 1 pen and shook the Drop Pod. My Hellions shoot up the TH/SS squad with the Libby, I killed the Libby and left only the Sergeant alive. I failed my assault even with the re-roll. My Reavers got into range and killed that last man in the Tact Squad with their rifles. My Wyches finally lost combat and lost the Hekatrix and I started to fallback. The Warriors manage to regroup with only 3 Warriors left, one is carrying a splinter cannon.
DA: He moves Belial and the squad closer to my deployment in attempt to get Linebreaker, but he forgot to run. His Lone Sergeant charges my Wyches trying to get away from the Hellions, I regrouped and nothing really happened. He took his Dakka Termies and tried to blow up a Ravager, couldn't so he decided to charge and got it to wreck. His Drop Pod couldn't do a thing.
Score: 6DE - 8DA
Turn 5:
DE: I moved my Ravagers in a way to aim at either the 2 Dakka Termies left or the Drop Pod. I managed to wipe out the Dakka Termies with 1 Ravager and 2 Warrior Squads. The Drop Pod took a penetration shot and exploded from my other Ravager, the Blasterborn attempted but failed. My Reavers are sitting in his deployment zone just incase the game ends and I can get linebreaker.
DA: My opponent at this time only has 3 units left (Lone Sergeant, Belial, and Upgraded Termies.) His Sergeant is still stuck in combat with my wyches. He runs Belial's Squad into my deployment hoping to draw the game on turn 5 if it ends.
Score: 10DE - 10DA
Turn 6:
DE: I moved my Reavers to get ready for a bladevane against Belial's Squad. My blasterborn moved and ran into his deployment zone letting my Reavers leave their post. I then moved my entire force (2 Ravagers, 2 Warrior squads with SC in each squad, and Hellions) in range of Belials Squad. After the torrent of fire and the bladevane all that was left was the Apothecary.
DA: He tried to assault the Reavers with his Lone Apothecary and didn't kill a thing. His Lone Sergeant is still stuck in combat with only 2 Wyches.
Score: 12DE - 10DA (Game Ended) If it went to turn 7 he would have been tabled.
It was a close game. I thought by turn 4 I was going to lose but I made a huge comeback between turn 5 and 6. This was my first attempt against DA, even with the lack of experience I managed pretty well. My opponent on the other hand was totally caught off guard. He ignored the Ravagers early in the game, and attempted to deal with the Hellion Deathstar and Raiders instead. This was a grave mistake that cost him the game. He said he learned his lesson and will go after the Ravagers next time. Overall it was a good experience. Barely any rule disagreements and when we did disagree it was resolved quickly and effortlessly. I can see myself having another game with this opponent.

Nice battle report, Night Fighting and having to face Dark Eldar is a pain.
ReplyDeleteLooks like your opponent also had the same luck with dreadnoughts as I have had so far this edition....they just die.
Looks like it was a pretty close game all the way up to Turn 5 which is nice considering you nearly doubled the amount of kill points he had in his army.
Good Battle Report I look forward to reading more.
Very cool.
