I ended up playing two games on Sunday. The first game was planned; which was against SW w/ IG Allies. The second game was a complete fluke against Chaos Daemons (the guy was stoked that he tabled GK in a 45min game so he wanted to play someone else)

SW/IG: Decided to castle everything he had in two ruins, except his storm troopers and drop grey hunters. We did the Alternating Terrain Rule (I think its a broken rule and shouldn't be used). He placde a Ruin terrain next one Ruin terrain I already placed hugging the corner which pretty much gave him a good spot to castle and never move. This also wouldn't have happened because you decide table halves before terrain is placed, but my opponent wanted to decide table halves after terrain.
DE: With me having second and no night fighting I decided to reserve 50% of my army. I didn't want to risk having to fly from one corner to another while getting lit up by the mass amount of firepower my opponent brought. I reserved Reavers, both Warriors, Wyches (w/ Haemy), and one Blasterborn squad. Everything else tried to stay away 48" away from his guns.
Turn 1:
SW/IG: It took both his Master of Ordance (MoO) and Manticore to take out one Ravager. Everything pretty much did nothing. One of his drop pods landed in terrain. His Priest took a perils and took a wound.
DE: I moved everything up and managed to shoot both of my remain Ravagers into his Long Fang squad and killed one model. My Blasterborn decided to flat-out behind a piece of terrain. My Hellions w/ Baron and Haemy moved from one piece of terrain to another without taking any casualties due to my reroll.
Score: 0DE - 2SW/IG
Turn 2:
SW/IG: He managed to blow up my Raider with the Blasterborn and shot them up killing all but one; the lone Trueborn started to flee (keep track of this one model, he brings a lot of excitement to the game). He then tried to take out my Ravagers but my god like luck when it comes to making 5+ rolls kicked in this game. He only managed to put take away one HP from each Ravager and Stunned one. He also tried shooting my Hellions with his MoO and his Storm Troopers deepstrike next to them and rapid-fired only killing 2 models.
DE: With my Hellions squad fired all they had including the Liquifier Gun into the Storm Troopers and wiped them off the board from sheer shooting. My Reavers came in and Turbo-Boosted over the GH near the Drop Pod and killed four models. My Warriors came in and tried to get close enough to shoot one of the LF squads and killed three models and they started to fall back.
Score: 1DE - 3SW/IG
Turn 3:
SW/IG: His second GH squad Drop Podded in near one of my Warrior Raiders. With all of his shooting he took out both of my Raiders and took out one more HP from both of my Raiders. After all that he tried to kill the one Trueborn model with his lightning; I failed to deny the witch but I went to ground and made my 6+ cover save from the one shot he made with the lightning. The frustation and humor begins. He assaulted my warriors with his full squad of GH. I took out 2 GH with overwatch and killed one in combat. He made five wounds and I made five 5+ armor saves.
DE: My Wyches came on board and got out to assist the Warriors in assault. My other Warriors climbed up the hill next to the first Drop Pod and shot up the other GH squad and brought them down to two models. My Reavers with only three models left tried and Turbo-boost over his IG squad but didn't kill a single model. My Ravagers failed at killing anything else. My Hellions were pretty much stuck in terrain. For them to get closer to my opponents gun line I would have to get out of terrain for one turn; with the amount of firepower my opponent still had they wouldn't have lived and he would have gotten 4VP.
Score: 1DE - 5SW/IG
Turn 4:
SW/IG: He continued to shoot my hellions but the 3+ cover save (Stealth + Ruins) and FNP kept them alive. He then took out the Raider the Wyches came with. He tried to shoot the Trueborn model again with lightning and I Denied the Witch with a 6+. My Ravagers were finally taken out after passing several 5+ Flicker Fields, but just one failed save brought their doom. His GH couldn't do anything against my Wyches or Warriors. He lost combat but stayed in combat. He killed the Reavers.
DE: My Blasterborn Finally came in but I decided to take out the Drop Pods instead. My Warriors also managed to kill the last two GH from the first pod. My Wyches and Warriors kill more GH but they stay in combat. My Lone Trueborn continues to flee. His GH squad finally gets wiped out of combat. My Wyches consolidated towards his other Drop Pod and my Warriors got in front of the Wyches to provide cover.
Score: 4DE - 9SW/IG
Turn 5:
SW/IG: He tried to take out anything he could but couldn't do much. He also again tried to kill my Trueborn, but because of Night Fighting he couldn't target him.
DE: My Wyches moved and assaulted his other Drop Pod and Glanced it to death with their Haywires. Everything else pretty much was useless. The game ended.
Score: 5DE - 9SW/IG
From the get go the mission was against me. No Night Fighting was also a handicap. The worse thing was that my opponent brought a complete shooty list and was able to castle all his units in Ruins. After this game I will only play with terrain preset in a typical tournament set up. I might use the NOVA set up for terrain. The game was still fun though. That one Trueborn model remained on the table. Also my uncanny luck at making 5+ Rolls also brought a lot of humor to the game. I did warn my opponent that I great at making 5+ Rolls, he thought it was a joke till he saw the truth. Good game either way, and my opponent was enjoyable as well.
After This Game I decided to play a Daemon player who was so happy that he just tabled GK in 45mins. I had to experience the list that can table GK in 45mins. My list was still the same. His list was. This is a close guess to what he brought. His list was originally 1850 but he brought the Furies to make it 2000 points. Pretty much he spammed Breath of Chaos which wounds/glances on a 4+, ignores armor, and its a template. The GK was not ready for that many flamers.
2000pts

1 Daemon Prince of Chaos, 230 pts (Daemonic Flight; Mark of Tzeentch; Bolt of Tzeentch; Breath of Chaos)
The Daemon guy won turn 1 and decided to keep it, thinking I was going to steal the initiative. I rather react to Daemons than let him react to my moves. I deployed my Hellions in the middle of my deployment in terrain that had an objective. My Blasterborn squads were placed in my left corner and my ravagers and warriors were placed on my right corner. This was to force my opponent to split up his forces.
Turn 1:
CD: He rolled on his waves and ended up with Wave A (he really wanted Wave B for dakka). His Nurgle DP came down and tried to flame my Hellions but only managed to kill two models due to FNP. His Plaguebearers landed and claimed the other two objectives. His Bloodletters and Skulltaker landed over 18" away from my hellions and behind a forest. The Furies landed pretty far away from the action. His Screamers landed near my Ravagers.
DE: My Hellions lit up his DP but managed to only put two wounds on it. My Blasterborn tried to shoot at one of his Plaguebearer squads but managed to only kill one model. My Ravagers and 2 Warrior squads had his Screamers screaming in agony giving me First Blood.
Score: 4DE - 6CD
Turn 2:
CD: Only his FoT and PHoT came in, but his PHoT mishapped and got delayed. His Flamers tried to flame the Hellions again but FNP saved me and I only took three wounds. The NDP took flight and vector striked one of my Ravagers and took 1HP away, he tried to BoC but I made the 5+. The Furies tried to assault on of my Blasterborn Raiders but I managed to kill 1-2 furies and only took 1HP due to all the 5+ saves I made.
DE: My Reavers came in and turbo-boosted taking out some Furies. The Raider flew away from the furies and killed 2-3 more with blasters. The other Raider got into LoS with the FoT and killed one model the Hellions finished the FoT off. The Warriors put one more wound on the NDP. My Wyches came in and assaulted his Bloodletters. I killed 2-3 BoK but lost my Hekatrix in a challenge against the Skulltaker.
Score: 4DE - 6CD
Turn 3:
CD: His TDP came in and both of his PHoT, but one of the PHoT mishapped and I placed it in some ruin as far as possible from my vehicles. His TDP tried to BoC and BoC one of my Ravagers but my 5+ saved the day. His Flurries tried assaulting again my Raider with Blasterborn. His Skulltaker killed my Haemy but I managed to kill 1-2 more BoK.
DE: It took my whole force to get rid of both of his NDP and put one wound on his TDP. His Furies died to all my blaster fire from both of my Blasterborn.
Score: 5DE - 6CD
Turn 4:
CD: His last DP finally came in and finally wrecked my Raider, the Blasterborn got behind it leaving the wreckage in between the NDP and the Blasterborn. His FoT came down and tried to flamer my Hellions again: in the end of all this abuse I still have my Baron, Haemy, and 10 Hellions remaining. The Wyches completely wiped the BoK, but failed to wound the Skulltaker.
DE: My Hellions wiped the FoT of the table giving me a total of three pain tokens. I took out the TDP with my Ravagers and my Warriors moved up to shoot one of his PoN squads on an objective. I left them with 5 models. My Reavers turboboosted and completely wiped one of his PHoT off the table.
Score: 6DE - 6CD
My opponent withdrew at the end of Turn 4. I only lost one Raider, 5 Hellions, 1 Haemy, 3 Wyches. He felt that he couldn't come back at this time. He predicted that both of my Warriors squads would lay down fire on his 5 man PoN squad and pretty much wipe them out. His lone NDP wouldn't have survive either. I would have sent my Hellions to assist with killing the Skulltaker and get Slay the warlord and my Reavers were ready to fly to his deployment to get Linebreaker. My opponent was a great guy, this was the 2nd time I played him and he just seems happy enough to play. His dice were cold while my dice were on fire.
Summary
Overall Sunday was a lot of fun. Learned a bit more about IG and CD. Also, I learned that I don't like the Alternating Terrain Placement rule. Both games proved I have great luck when it comes to making 5+ rolls. If I had to make a 2+ or 3+ my luck is pretty bad. I would like to play the CD again hoping his dice are a little better. I also have to figure out how to deal with a shoot army that sits castled in terrain.
how do you start with fnp?
